Herbs and Nutrition
Nutrition is the science of food, the nutrients in foods and how the body uses those nutrients. It includes the processes of ingestion, digestion, absorption, metabolism, transport and storage and excretion of those nutrients. It also includes the environmental, psychological and behavioural aspects of food and eating. Good nutrition is a cornerstone of good health. Poor nutrition will lead to reduced immunity impaired physical and mental development, and reduced productivity. Nutrition is a concern for everyone, as water quality issues, environmental contaminants, pesticides, food additives and biotechnology and genetically modified foods are across our food supply chains and marketplace.
The happy Yogi Project offers only the highest quality, cleanest and purest supplements which is why some of our nutritional supplements are only availble by consultation and request via our 'practitioner only products' page.
Herbs and Nutrition
Herbal medicine is the oldest and still the most widely used system of medicine in the world today. Herbal medicines act on the human physiology to influence bodily activity, enhance or inhibit organ function, and are prescribed with the aim of correcting imbalances and resolving patterns of dysfunction. For example, bitter substances found in certain herbs stimulate the production and release of digestive juices, thereby improving digestive function. Herbalists generally use whole plant extracts containing multiple constituents on the basis that these ingredients collectively reduce the side effects of any individual constituent and provide synergistic actions as well. Using several herbs together likewise achieves synergistic activity, enhanced efficacy, and reduced toxicity. Herbal Medicine supports holistic treatment, so prevention of disease is as important as the treatment of acute or chronic disease.
